Flying in - Information for pilots

Arrivals- The 2008 McMinnville NWAAC Antique Airplane Fly-In is scheduled for Friday, Saturday & Sunday, August 15, 16 & 17 at McMinnville Airport (KMMV). Airport unicom is 123.0. Ground frequency is 123.3. When entering the traffic pattern, please cross midfield at 1500 feet to avoid glider traffic. Pattern altitude is 1000 feet. Runway 4/22 - left pattern. No upwind, please. Grass runway - 22 R.

Non-towered rules apply. The airspace can get very busy. Please monitor 123.0 as far out as practical. Communicate your location and intentions and work yourself into the traffic pattern. Be aware that there will be some planes with no radio. After landing contact ground on 123.3 for parking instructions.

Parking / Camping- After landing the airboss will ask you for your parking preference, and direct you to a suitable location. We will have areas for itinerate day parking, antique/classics, experimentals, and overnight camping. Volunteer staff will help direct you to your parking area and assist you in parking. Please note the no-prop zone areas. We will try our best to fit your needs. Please note that camping is allowed at all of the parking areas. If you have a high interest antique aircraft you may be asked to park on the tarmac in the special events(?) area. When the field is full and busy you will be asked to park at any open space at our discretion. Please bring your own tiedowns. Early arrivals (Tuesday - Thursday) will be asked to park temporarily in the usual itinerate parking area provided by the FBO; you may be asked to move later. Fuel is available on field from Cirrus Aviation. Two fuel trucks will be patrolling on field. If you need fuel just flag down a passing truck and they will be happy to help you. Camping on the field is encouraged for the fly-in participants, and is a fun way to meet other aviators. Camping and RV parking is not available on field for drive-in spectators. Showers, restrooms, and food is available on field. We also encourage you to spend some time taking a bus to beautiful downtown McMinnville and sample our restaurants and shopping opportunities. Busses are also available to visit the Spruce Goose at the Evergreen Aviation Museum. Several special events are planned as well. No-Prop Zone- The FAA and common sense has dictated that there will be some No-Prop Zones at the McMinnville NWAAC fly-In. For the safety of our spectators and volunteers, many of the parking areas have been designated as No-Prop Zones. Please be prepared to kill your engine when asked to do so by the parking volunteer staff. Click here for a reminder of the hand signals used.
